The granite they installed was....

Golden Garnet:

We knew it wasn't the St. Cecilia when we first saw it but not sure what it was.  Now they are going to remove all the granite (counter-tops, gourmet island) and install the CORRECT granite.  Hope no damage is done to the cabinets and dry-walls. We are doing our best not to get upset over this as we have been through worse mistakes before this.  As long as they properly repair/correct any mistakes.

Like JandM said, It's a lot of counter space.  Here are some pictures of the kitchen counters from the model home.

  1. Wow. Is that even one of the choices that RH typically offers?

Another thought I had - I've seen lots of bloggers have been given the opportunity to actually go and pick out the slab of granite. Is this something that you were given the option to do? If not... you may want to insist on going to pick it out for the second time! Definitely would save some headaches later.

  2. I agree with you about picking out the granite but unfortunately we were not allowed to do so. We've asked.

  3. I thought it looked grayish at first glance of your previous post(hence my burlywood guess), but I can see now that it's not gray at all. Either way, just frustrating when they don't do something right the first time. I can imagine someone at RHs or M&R getting scolded big time for this since you have A LOT of counter space. Hope the replacement process goes off without a hitch!

  4. That was my original selection (Golden Garnett) but am very pleased with the Santa Cecilia.

    1. The St. Cecilia is much more pleasing to look at. Not as busy looking. The Golden Garnett looks like a darker version of the Wheat granite. Neither are very good looking.

  7. man what a bummer for them to have to re-do it all...guess that's what happens when they don't pay attention! glad you are getting what you are paying for!

  8. Okay, everyone guessed this wrong! LOL I definitely knew it wasn't St. Cecilia because I did not see any cherries. :-) It's amazing that even though St. Cecilia is a standard granite it looks much better than the upgrades. I was about to spend an additional $3000 on the upgrade to get a better product; however, the variations were not to my satisfaction plus our SR told me she paid for the upgrade and her counter top looks PINK! So I took my chances and got the perfect color of the St. Cecilia which works well with the espresso and butterscotch cabinets. I LOVE THE CABINET SPACE!! We have an abundance of cabinets too and most are empty! Lol AND THE MODEL IS GORGEOUS!!

    1. I forgot to mention that the repair should go well. It would be a bigger problem if the backsplash was attached so you should be in good hands.

  9. At least they owned up to it quickly and did the pull out and replacement with minimal concerns. Would really be a bummer if your kitchen granite looks like the ones in your bathroom. Hopefully there are no more problems and they finish it soon despite their track record with you guys.

  10. I stand corrected, I thought it was St. cecilia...opps! Now imagine what they are going to do with that granite? Hell ask to keep it for an outside kitchen or something!!!! But you know it will just get scrapped...

No worries, it will be fixed right!! You will make sure of it.

    1. Hi Rachel,
Thanks for asking. Well, right now we have a major issue with the water proofing system in the basement (sump-pump, drain tiles). it'll be another post soon on that. It's a big headache.
